Please see our activities listed on What to do page. We kindly ask you to send your wish list of the activities as soon as booking and decisions are made, so we can check the availability and plan your holiday according to your wishes.
Can I attend the activities?
For most of the activities is required to be in a good physical condition. We can also take in to consideration your special needs and adjust the activities a bit to make sure that they suite you. However, Hotel Korpikartano is an ideal place also to relax and enjoy the silence! Please tell in advance if you have some special needs or requirements.
For snowmobiling it’s needed to be 15 years old. No alcoholic beverages are allowed to have before the safari.
How big are the group sizes?
We try to keep the group sizes as small as possible. Group sizes vary depending on the activity, but maximum is usually twelve people.
CHECK IN & OUT
Check in starts at 3pm and check out time is at noon. Please let us know your estimate arrival time if travelling by your own car or flight schedule in order to make transfers accordingly.
Reception is open from 9am to 10pm. If you are checking in outside of reception opening ours, please let us know.
If traveling with a group, ask an offer via contact form.
Hotel is situated on the shore of Lake Menesjärvi with great possibility for fishing. Rowing boats, canoes and kayaks are included to room rates. More info for fishing permits on the site of Eräluvat.fi. Fishing permits can be bought online or from Siida, Nature centre & Sámi Museum.
We believe in local food and menus change from fish to meat every second day. If special diets are needed like vegetarian, celiac or non-dairy etc. diets, we would like to know it early in advance to be able to serve correct meals.
We serve lunch and dinner in the restaurant. However, as our restaurant is open based on pre-booking policy we kindly ask you to make meal bookings in advance, thank you. Dinner is usually served at 7pm.
Some snacks and beverages can be bought in the hotel restaurant.
The proximity of Lemmenjoki National Park gives our guests a great possibility to enjoy the hiking routes of the National Park in the summer. You can choose from daytrips to several days’ hikes, by combining with the visit to Korpikartano. For example you can stay the first and last night in Hotel Korpikartano. Hiking is also possible to combine with a riverboat trip. Please see more info on Outdoors.fi.
In Korpikartano we accept credit cards Visa & Master and cash euros. Closest ATM is in Inari village centre.
Pets are also welcomed as we are pet friendly hotel. We kindly ask you to inform if you have pets when making the booking as only some of the rooms are allowed for pets. Please note that we are on the reindeer herding so, pets are needed to keep in a leash.
There is an extra supplement for pets.
PHOTOGRAPHING NORTHERN LIGHTS
You need a camera with manual settings, preferably SLR camera with a lens that can be set to infinity and tripod (we also have a few rental tripods) and of course clear sky and aurora activity. To learn more about photographing of Northern lights, attend our Aurora workshop!

Our rooms are situated either firsts or second floor in two different buildings. Both buildings are without elevator. There is a hair dryer in the room.
Menesjärvi is an old reindeer herder village. In the downtown of village is Hotel Korpikartano, former school. Nowadays closest services are in nearby villages. Below we have listed some services provided.

We do transfers as well. If using Ivalo Airport, our airport transfer leaves usually 2,5h before the flight departure time as it takes ca. 1h -1h 15 min to drive there. Ivalo Airport is not the biggest so it opens about two hours prior to the flight departure time.
Our tap water is drinkable. We also have our own dwell and water cleaning system.
WHAT TO BRING?
Here we have listed some essential things what at least to have when packing your bags.

- tripod, if you want take pictures of the Northern Lights
(we also have rental tripods)
- thermal set (underlayers), preferably wool
(it’s good to have several layers, easier to adjust when weather changes)
- warm socks, wool
- warm wool jumper or fleece
- mittens (fingers not together)
- hat, scarf
- warm pants and jacket
- warm shoes (hiking boots are better in summer and autumn time not in winter)
Note, we also offer rental winter clothing (overalls, boots, mittens).

We have free wireless internet (WIFI) connection in both buildings, also working in the rooms.
